Corrections Policy
We are a mirror of the public record, not the authority. When the mirror is wrong, we fix it — in the open.
Last updated: October 17, 2026
Our standard
Every figure we publish is drawn from an official public record and stamped with its source and dates. If a published figure does not match the official record — because the source corrected itself, because we mapped a field wrongly, or for any other reason — we correct the figure or remove it, and we note the change on the affected report.
What counts as a correction
- A permit count, value, date, status, or category that differs from the official record.
- A business name published differently from how the source jurisdiction published it.
- A freshness stamp (source-last-updated or our collection date) that is wrong.
- Any record published about the wrong jurisdiction or county.
How to report an error
Send the report's address (URL), the figure in question, and — if you have it — a link to the official record through our contact page. Reports with a link to the official record are the fastest to verify, but we review every report we receive.
What happens next
- We check the claim against the official record, including the original record we stored at collection time.
- If we are wrong, the figure is corrected or removed and the change is noted.
- If the source jurisdiction's record itself has since changed, the report is updated to the current record and re-stamped with fresh dates.
- The official government record is always the final word. Where we and the record disagree, the record wins.
The corrections log
A public log of corrections opens with the first live county reports, so the history of what changed, and when, is itself part of the public record we keep.
